THE PRINCE ALBERT: AS IF WE NEED A FLIMSY EXCUSE TO DRINK

The Prince Albert, Studio A6 at Westgate Studio, Wakefield, is fast becoming recognised as the place, sorry, THE place to be seen in Yorkshire if you are a young, dynamic, creative type. This has only been made possible by the tireless effort of Duncan Lister and Bob Milner, who fall into none of the above categories but who can, if pressed, pull a (decent) pint, served with aplomb or a cherry and umbrella if preferred.

We invite you to come along on Friday 3rd June, from 7.30pm to help us celebrate the 43rd anniversary of what could have been a horrible day for art, and a bit of a mess to clean up: On 3rd June 1968, Andy Warhol the American artist and a major driving force in the movement known as ‘Pop Art’ is shot and wounded in his New York film studio, The Factory, by actress Valerie Solanas who founded the “group” called S.C.U.M. (Society for Cutting up Men).

We’ll be making paper chain men (cut out) and eating soup. And if anyone wants to bleach their hair, we’d love that. Please don’t bring Lou Reed, he might want to sing. (And I’ve never understood why he rhymed ‘head’ with ‘head’, seems lazy to me. Lots of words rhyme with head. Dead. Bed. Thread “But she never lost the thread/Even when she was given head…”. Much better. See, how long did that take me…) See you Friday. Entry via buzzer or text.
